Its time for the 2009 College Football Bowl Season, the most exciting time of the year if you are a fan of college football. This year looks like its going to have some really good games happening, and its going to be pretty exciting to see who gets an invite and what they can do with it. I can’t wait to see who gets matched up with whom in what college football bowl game and more importantly, how the teams play in the biggest game of the year. With 34 football bowls including the BCS Championship Game, there will be a lot of college football happening in the weeks leading up to and past New Years Day. And there are going to be tons of bowl game tickets for sale for the games all over the country and even Canada! Ohio State was the first to seal its BCS Bowl bid with its win over Iowa, and with the following the Hawkeyes enjoy Ohio State Rose Bowl tickets have become perhaps the most sought after in college football. Ohio State has had its ups and downs this season but look for them to step it up for the most historic game in NCAA football.

But as big as the Rose Bowl is, the biggest game of the year is the BCS Championship Game, a game that comes as close to a college football Super Bowl as you can get. This year it looks like the Texas Longhorns will be facing off with the SEC winner. That game between the Florida Gators and the Alabama Crimson Tide is going to be really big, so you can imagine that SEC Championship tickets are as hot as they come. The winner would go on to sell BCS Championship tickets, an that is quite an honor. If Florida is able to best Alabama again they would also become one of the most dominant teams of all times, going to the BCS Title game three of four years.

And while the Rose Bowl and the BCS Championship Game are two of the biggest college bowl games out there, they are not the only ones. They are two of the five “BCS Bowls,” the most prestigious of all the bowl, and then you have the 29 minor bowls, which are anything but to fledging teams on the rise. There’s been a number of very good teams that came out of nowhere this year and they are going to be looking to prove they can play with the best teams in the league.

The Five BCS Bowls:

The five BCS Bowls have been around in some format since 1996, howver the BCS Championship Game and the four other “BCS Bowls” have been in their current format since 2006. The two best teams according to the BCS get invited to the BCS Championship Game, while the rest of the teams get invited to their respective bowl from the conference affiliations. And of course the best teams from non=automatic bowls also get a chance at an “at-large” bid. The five BCS Bowls are:

The Rose Bowl “Granddaddy of Them All” has been around since 1902 and is where all the “bowls” get their name. The game took the “Bowl” moniker because the stadium the fist game was played in was shaped like a bowl. Ever since football games have been known as bowls. While the Rose Bowl has been around the longest, two of the other college bowl games have been around for over 70 years as well. The Sugar Bowl has been around since 1934, when Tulane beat Temple 20-14. Ever since, Sugar Bowl tickets have been among the most looked for bowl game tickets in the country. The year after the first Sugar Bowl, the Orange Bowl took place in Florida as a way to show off the warm weather of the state in the winter. The first Orange Bowl tickets went on sale in 1935, when Bucknell beat Miami by a score of 26 – 0. The game has since then been much more even, and you have a pretty good shot at a great matchup when you buy tickets for a bowl game. The newest entrant to Bowl Games is the Fiesta Bowl, which started in 1971. But while this entrant was a little late, you will still find tons of people looking for Fiesta Bowl tickets each year.

And of course there are the other bowls out there. 29 other bowls help to ensure that there is plenty of college football to watch. Some of the hottest of those bowls games include Champs Sports Bowl tickets, Insight Bowl tickets and Gator Bowl tickets. But there are so many college bowl game tickets out there that finding a game or five to attend wont be a problem if that’s what you want. Get your college bowl game tickets soon because you don’t want to miss the fun.
